DOWNERS GROVE, Ill. -- Sara Lee In-Store Bakery based here said it will begin selling pies directly to in-store bakeries (ISB) nationwide on April 1.
"Going direct to our in-store bakery customers demonstrates our commitment to enhancing the existing customer partnerships we have in other categories," said Mike Knowles, Sara Lee In-Store Bakery's c.m.o. "We've also lined up some great broker partners who can bring significant resources to bear to support our customers' growth plans."
To make the transition as seamless as possible for current customers, Sara Lee -- which offers a breadth of products in multiple formats, including signature high-pies to no-sugar added pies and seasonal favorites -- will not change product packaging or nutritional labeling, said Knowles.
Kevin Schwab was named v.p./in-store solutions and will be responsible for leading Sara Lee's dedicated ISB sales and marketing team. With more than 20 years calling on retail grocery customers, Schwab previously served as director, DSD bakery, for Sara Lee Food & Beverage and has held leadership roles within Sara Lee's frozen and sweet goods business.
