JACKSON, Mich. -- Brothers Ron, Miles, and Steve Jones of Dawn Food Products, Inc., based here, have been inducted into the Baking Hall of Fame, and were honored for their contributions to the baking industry and ingredient technology at an induction ceremony earlier this week at BakingTech 2007, held this year in Chicago.
The Jones family became part of Dawn in 1935, when Marlin Jones began working for the doughnut and baking mix company, which had been founded in 1920. As a pioneering force, Dawn was the first company in the United States to manufacture ready-to-use mixes for the commercial baking industry. By 1955 Marlin was able to purchase the company, where he had already begun revolutionizing the industry with high-quality, consistent mixes, and services that made the corner baker's job easier while meeting consumer demand for superior products.
Eventually, Marlin's sons, Ron, Miles, and Steve, joined the business.
Still a family-owned business under the leadership of c.e.o. Carrie Jones-Barber, Dawn's success is based on a special culture fostered by the Jones family and based on the "Circle of Excellence," focusing on good people with outstanding work ethics, making excellent products, and taking great care of customers. Dawn has grown to become a global company offering over 4,000 products to more than 40,000 customers worldwide.
Steve Jones, who died in 1995, was inducted into the Hall of Fame posthumously.
Created by the American Society of Baking to recognize the achievements of individuals who have made outstanding contributions to commercial baking, the Baking Hall of Fame is located at the AIB International headquarters in Manhattan, Kan.
