    Shaw's Supermarkets Taking Part in Veteran Employment Program

    WEST BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Shaw's Supermarkets, Inc. here, a unit of Minneapolis-based Supervalu, is participating in the EFTAS (Employment for Armed Services) program, which helps returning soldiers find work in their local communities, according to Miami-based Atlantis Business Development Corp., Inc. EFTAS is a wholly owned subsidiary of Atlantis.

EFTAS is a wholly owned subsidiary of Atlantis.

    "Shaw's Supermarkets has always been known as a high-quality company in the marketplace throughout New England," said Atlantis c.e.o. Christopher Dubeau. "The EFTAS employment program can only make its impact, with the generous support of business and community focused companies like Shaw's."

    EFTAS is currently developing an electronic job posting Web site (eftas.org) to help returning military personnel and veterans make contact with potential employers for career opportunities. Additionally, the program is looking into teaming up with career fair operators, job training organizations, direct hiring employers, and executive search firms.

    With 208 stores and 30,000 associates, Shaw's serves customers in Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Connecticut, and Vermont.
