Wegmans is bringing The Burger Bar concept to Pennsylvania this September

Wegmans Food Markets has revealed that it will hold the grand opening of its Lancaster, Pa., store at 7 a.m. on Sept. 23. The 120,000-square-foot store, which will employ 475 full-and part-time associates, is the first in the state to feature The Burger Bar, Wegmans’ family-friendly casual restaurant concept serving burgers, salads, sandwiches, milkshakes, soups and sides.

The grocer already operates The Burger Bar at locations in Columbia, Owings Mills and Woodmere, Md.; Medford and Natick, Mass.; Hanover and Montvale, N.J.; and Canandaigua, Dewitt and Pittsford, N.Y., as well as in its brand-new Chantilly, Va., store, which opened earlier this month.

The restaurant is currently featuring an Oyster Po’Boy sandwich special, consisting of lightly battered fried Cajun oysters, remoulade sauce, lettuce and tomato on a club roll, for $14, including Tuscan fries, soup or salad. The offer runs through June 30.

Among the Lancaster location’s other highlights is indoor and outdoor seating for nearly 300 customers. Like all Wegmans supermarkets, the store will also have an extensive prepared food selection.

“This store is years in the making,” said Store Manager Jimmy Bellis. “We’re grateful to the Lancaster community for welcoming Wegmans with open arms and are eager to begin serving customers here.”

Rochester, N.Y.-based Wegmans, a family-owned company, operates 97 stores in New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Virginia, Maryland, and Massachusetts.
