    Stater Bros. Gives to Fund for Fallen Local Firefighters

    COLTON, Calif. -- Stater Bros. here is today presenting a $40,000 check to 5th District Riverside County Supervisor Marion Ashley for the Esperanza Firefighters Assistance Fund, at the retailer's Oak Valley supermarket in Beaumont, Calif. The contribution represents donations made by Stater Bros.' customers, employees, and the company.

    COLTON, Calif. -- Stater Bros. here is today presenting a $40,000 check to 5th District Riverside County Supervisor Marion Ashley for the Esperanza Firefighters Assistance Fund, at the retailer's Oak Valley supermarket in Beaumont, Calif. The contribution represents donations made by Stater Bros.' customers, employees, and the company.

    The money will be used to help the families of the five U. S. Forest Service firefighters who were killed battling the Esperanza fire in Riverside County. To date, the amount raised by the fund is over $1 million.

    Stater Bros. currently operates 162 supermarkets and has over 17,000 employees. The company also owns and operates Heartland Farms, provider of Knudsen Dairy products to Southern California.
