MINNEAPOLIS -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said yesterday that Target Corp. is recalling more than 190,000 "Kool Toyz" products, because one line poses a choking hazard and the others could expose children to lead paint or cause cuts or puncture wounds.
The company said it has received four reports of toys breaking apart and exposing sharp points, but no reported injuries.
The recalled "Kool Toyz" are Truck Carry Case; Tiny Playground Set; Dream House Play Set; Discovery Dinosaur Habitat; Command Center Action Figure Play Set; Aircraft Carrier Action Figure Play Set; Air, Land, and Sea Defender Play Set; Tank Action Figure Play Set; Helicopter Action Figure Play Set; and Remote Control Trucks.
The toys, made by Toy Century Industrial, Ltd. of Hong Kong, were sold at Target stores nationwide from July through September, and online from August through September, for between $10 and $20.
Target also is recalling about 7,100 "Play Wonder" puzzle tables that contain three nine-piece wooden puzzles inside the table. The handles on the pieces can come off, posing a choking hazard to young children, and the tips of the nails on the inside shelf of the puzzle table could be exposed, posing a cut or puncture hazard.
Target said it has received two reports of the pegs coming off of the puzzle pieces, and in one case a child was found to be mouthing the pegs. The puzzles, made by Chinese manufacturer Sunrise, were sold at Target stores nationwide and online from December 2005 through October for about $25.
