WEST BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the ninth consecutive year, Shaw's Supermarkets and Star Markets are teaming up with the March of Dimes for the annual Pick-a-Pumpkin campaign to fund research and programs to save premature babies. The campaign precedes Prematurity Awareness Month in November, during which the March of Dimes will be blanketing New England with Pink and Blue get the word out about what it terms "the growing crisis of prematurity," the top cause of death in newborns.
The personalized orange pumpkins decorating the stores will raise awareness and critical funds in support of the March of Dimes' multiyear prematurity campaign.
According to Shaw's President Carl Jablonski in a statement, "By supporting March of Dimes, we are helping to save babies from premature birth".
Coca-Cola's New England division is again supporting the March of Dimes by offering consumers who Pick-a-Pumpkin a $1 coupon off two two-liter bottles of Fresca or two 12-packs of Fresca. Shoppers will be able to redeem the coupon at the time of pumpkin purchase, or save it for a later visit to Shaw's or Star Markets. The Fresca coupon can be redeemed until Nov. 30.
