MONTVALE, N.J. -- Super Fresh Food Markets, a banner of the Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Co. here, is reopening a newly remodeled Super Fresh store in Plumsteadville, Pa. today.
The remodeled Super Fresh is part of A&P's multimillion-dollar renovation project to upgrade its stores to a fresh, discount, or gourmet format. The revamped Super Fresh features expanded fresh offerings, among them natural and organic produce, meats, seafood, baked goods, and a Boar's Head Marquis Deli, in addition to a full range of conventional supermarket products. As part of the reopening ceremonies, the banner is presenting donations to the Plumsteadville fire and police departments, as well as to Liz and Jay Scott, parents of the late Alexandra "Alex" Scott, in support of Alex's Lemonade Stand For Pediatric Cancer Research.
A&P operates 75 Super Fresh stores in the District of Columbia, Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. Five have already been remodeled to the fresh format, similar to the chain's prototype A&P store in Midland Park, N.J., A&P spokeswoman Patti Councill told Progressive Grocer.
