ELIZABETH, N.J. - Two Ocean County ShopRite stores have been fined almost $200,000 for violating U.S. Department of Labor youth employment rules, according to published reports.
Toms River-based Perlmart Inc., owns the companies that run the stores, which are located in Toms River and Manahawkin, N.J., according to the Associated Press and local news sources.

The Department of Labor said it had discovered more than 150 violations at the two stores, including improperly permitting minors to use a cardboard baler, and allowing underage employees to work beyond legal hours.
Perlmart has agreed to pay $198,407 in fines and promised to rectify the problems at the stores, according to the agency.
