CARLISLE, Pa. -- Jim Ferraro will become e.v.p. real estate and construction at Giant Food Stores, LLC here, replacing Bob Anderson, who is retiring on Sept. 1.
"Bob's vision, leadership and 38 years of real estate experience have been a significant benefit to the company, as they provided us the opportunity to experiment with different prototypes and stores in new areas," noted Giant Food c.e.o. Tony Schiano. "We wish Bob and his family all the best. In addition, we are pleased to have Jim rejoin us as a member of the executive team."
During Anderson's 16 years with Giant Food, he played a key role in growing the Giant Food, Martin's and Tops Markets stores through new locations, expansions, and renovations. He also implemented strategic real estate planning and Giant’s expansion within the Philadelphia market and along the I-81 corridor.
Ferraro previously spent 18 years at the Giant/Finast organization in a variety of positions, returning to the company in April 2006 after a three-year period in which he served as e.v.p., real estate at Ahold USA, and then retail financial officer for C&S Wholesalers.
Giant Food Stores, one of six retail-operating companies under Ahold USA, currently operates 103 stores as Giant Food Stores, 119 stores as Tops Markets, and 26 stores as Martin's Food Markets. With almost 40,000 associates, Giant serves a six-state market area.
