ST. LOUIS - Just in time to capture the back to school buzz, Schnuck Markets, Inc. here launched Schnucks eScrip Community Card, which is designed to help organizations in the metro St. Louis market meet fundraising goals easily and efficiently.
Every time a shopper presents the eScrip Community Card at the checkout, Schnucks will give a percentage of the total grocery bill to the consumer's designated charitable organization (such as a school, church, or non-profit youth group).
The Community Card is not a gift card, so consumers will not be required to float money up front; nor is it a typical loyalty card that offers additional savings opportunities. Instead, consumers will automatically earn money that will be transferred monthly to the organizations of their choice.
"The meter starts and ends each month," said Larry Maggio, Schnucks director of marketing. "Our customers earn one percent for the first $300 in sales, two percent on the next $301-$600 and three percent on sales between $601-$999."
The retailer is directing school, church, or non-profit youth group members to pick up cards at any St. Louis Schnucks customer service counter. Customers are then instructed to call a toll-free number to sign up and designate up to three different organizations as beneficiaries. Organizations will receive their funds monthly, making it an on-going, year-round fundraiser.
The eScrip Web site allows cardholders and organizations to track their earnings, said Maggio, noting that any non-profit organization can be a beneficiary of the program. "Schnucks is a strong community partner and we are excited about the opportunities presented through the Schnucks eScrip Community Card," he said. "It's one of the best ways we have to thank customers for their loyalty and patronage."
Schnuck Markets, Inc. operates 102 stores (including five Logli stores) and 99 pharmacies in Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Tennessee, Mississippi and Iowa.
