ONTARIO, Calif. -- Regional independent Pro's Ranch Markets said it centralized the back office automation for all eight of its stores, as an effort to maintain data integrity throughout the enterprise.
The company, which specializes is merchandising to Hispanics, installed Melville, N.Y.-based BRdata’s Retail BOSS suite of applications, a modular enterprise solution comprising in-store solutions, a corporate host, financial applications, frequent shopper, and interfaces to perishable scale systems.
"We've been operating as a decentralized system, until now," says Jeff Provenzano, v.p. of information technology for Ranch Markets. "Nothing we’d been using before was flexible and user-friendly enough for our newly hosted operation."
Provenzano’s primary goal is centralizing the data and technology between the stores and the corporate office, including sales information and pricing data. Provenzano said he found the system’s thin-client DSD capabilities particularly useful. "We found the ability to do back-door receiving direct to the host without having to go through the store system especially impressive," he said. "To have all our data integrity at the corporate office is something that really attracted us."
What also factored into Provenzano's decision to adopt this system was its flexibility to meet the needs of his operations. "Other suppliers would have forced us to adapt to their particular way of doing things," he said. "This system really accommodates our business and business model."
Provenzano had the system up and running in two week’s time, he said, adding that he plans to incorporate BRdata’s warehouse module in the future.
