PEMBROKE, N.H. -- Stanley S. "Butch" Plifka Jr., has been appointed to the Associated Grocers of New England's board of directors. Plifka is the owner of Kulick's Market/Mall, and Kulick's Sunoco & Car Wash, both located in Winchester, N.H.; and represents the third generation to head the family businesses, which began as Kulick's Supermarket in 1909.
"We thank Butch for making his considerable talents available at this crucial time in the company's history," said AG New England president and c.e.o. Michael C. Bourgoine. AG New England moved earlier this year from Manchester, N.H. to a new 10,956,126-cubic-foot facility in Pembroke, N.H.
A trustee and chairman of the town of Winchester trust funds and an incorporator for Walpole Savings Bank in Walpole, N.H., Plifka has also held directorships, committee assignments, and board memberships with various organizations and companies. Additionally, he serves as a state representative for New Hampshire's District 4, filling the unexpired term of the late Ralph Shackett, which runs until 2008.
AG New England, owned entirely by independent retail grocers as members of a cooperative and the largest retailer-owned, wholesale grocery distribution center in New England, serves independent retail food stores in Maine, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, and the upstate New York/Albany area.
