LONG ISLAND CITY, N.Y. -- Since the Hamptons in Long Island have long been New Yorkers' preferred summer playground, it only makes sense that online grocer FreshDirect will for a second time offer home deliveries to Hamptons residents and vacationers.
Hamptons delivery service will begin in time for Memorial Day and continue throughout the summer until Labor Day. Like to last year, delivery zones will include the towns of East Hampton, Amagansett, Southampton, Bridgehampton, Westhampton, Sag Harbor, Hampton Bays, and select surrounding areas on Long Island's East End. Additionally, a drive-through pickup location in Riverhead will be open on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from noon to 8 p.m., and on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
"We experienced tremendous success in the Hamptons last summer and are thrilled to be heading back for our second season," said FreshDirect president Steve Michaelson in a statement. "In preparation for our return out East, our staff of expert chefs [has] been busy expanding our already extensive summer menu to include new marinated and chef-prepared meats, seafood, and produce items that will make summering in the Hamptons that much easier and more delicious."
Home delivery windows will be scheduled in two-hour blocks between noon and 8 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Delivery will also be available on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. There will be no deliveries on either Wednesday or Sunday. As is the case with metro New York service, orders will need to be placed by 11 p.m. the previous evening for weekday home delivery and pickup, and by 9 p.m. for Saturday delivery. The minimum order for Hampton's customers will be $100.
FreshDirect serves most of Manhattan, as well as locations in Queens, Brooklyn, and the Bronx, and parts of New Jersey and Westchester and Nassau counties. The company currently has more than 250,000 customers and has fulfilled almost 4 million orders since opening for business in September 2002.
