SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. and ROCKVILLE, Md. -- Consolidation continues in the retail technology arena, as JDA Software Group Inc. said it plans to acquire Manugistics, a global supplier of synchronized supply chain and revenue management solutions, to create a vertically-focused solutions provider to the global demand chain of manufacturers, wholesalers, distributors, and retailers.
"No other software company will be able to offer a similar breadth and depth of solutions to the very large, vertically focused demand chain market," commented Hamish Brewer, JDA's c.e.o., who will serve as c.e.o. of the combined company. "This deal is as close to a perfect match as you can get for an acquisition of this size. Manugistics brings advanced new optimization solutions to JDA's retail customers and substantially expands JDA's presence with consumer goods manufacturers and wholesalers. This combination translates into substantial synergies that will transform JDA's earnings power over time."
Thoma Cressey Equity Partners an enterprise software investor with approximately $2 billion in equity under management, plans to invest $50 million in JDA Software in the form of convertible preferred stock.
