    AWG, NCR Form Strategic Partnership

    KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- Associated Wholesale Grocers, Inc. (AWG), the second-largest cooperative grocery wholesaler in the United States, has joined with Dayton, Ohio-based NCR Corp. to jointly market and promote NCR's store automation and self-service products to AWG members.

    KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- Associated Wholesale Grocers, Inc. (AWG), the second-largest cooperative grocery wholesaler in the United States, has joined with Dayton, Ohio-based NCR Corp. to jointly market and promote NCR's store automation and self-service products to AWG members.

    "NCR has met our objectives in bringing a program to our members that includes aggressive and consistent pricing, whether the member is a single store or multistore operator," said AWG c.i.o. Keith Martin in a statement. "Because NCR is an industry leader in developing intuitive and easy-to-use products, our members can reap a solid return on their investments and increase customer service in their stores."

    "This agreement represents a great opportunity to further expand our technology offerings to retailers of all sizes who strive to be successful in an ever-changing competitive environment," noted NCR v.p. for U.S. retail sales Bruce Donis.

    AWG will certify NCR retail technology to its 1,600 independent grocers and regional chains across a 21-state area. The agreement includes NCR Advanced Checkout Solution (ACS) software for independent retailers and NCR's line of retail terminals and peripherals, among them the NCR RealPOS DynaKey user interface and NCR RealScan Bi-Optic Scanner/Scales. Under the agreement, NCR's dealer community will additioanlly co-market AWG's chosen back-office solution to the members' stores.
