VEGHEL, Netherlands -- Dutch supermarket chain Jumbo Supermarkten yesterday went live with new operations software to support its growth plans and corporate strategy of "Seven Certainties," which aim at ensuring the best price, service, range, and satisfaction for customers every day.
The retailer installed the Lawson Retail Operations (LRO) application from St. Paul, Minn.-based Lawson Software, using the Lawson Library as the backbone of its information hub, feeding all mission critical applications across its operations. Jumbo is also using Lawson Merchandising to comprehend and manage the variables that go into pricing and assortment decisions and Supply Chain for Retail to eliminate hidden costs, improve service and boost profit margins.
"Our priority in the medium-term is to build the business and to open up to one new store a month," said Frits van Eerd, c.e.o. at Jumbo. "We have a winning formula for finding new stores and turning them round quickly, so we need strategic partners who enable me to deliver on my business goals. LRO is scaleable and consistent. It helps us deliver. The effect goes straight to the bottom line so this application is used intensively to assist with the attainment of Jumbo's every day lowest price certainty."
Jumbo's long-term business goal is to transition from a regional operator to a major national player while continuing to offer customers lower prices and better product ranges and customer service than any other supermarket.
Based in the Netherlands, Jumbo Supermarkten is the part of the Van Eerd Groep, a family-owned company with its origin in the wholesale grocery sector. The retailer operates 76 stores across the Netherlands and employs 10,000 associates.
