CHICAGO -- Thomas R. Greco, s.v.p. of sales for Frito-Lay North America, has been named Outstanding Champion for 2006 by the Network of Executive Women. The organization will honor Greco Sunday, May 7, at the group's annual Champion's Reception at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Chicago. The reception is sponsored by Deloitte & Touche and will also honor this year's NEW scholarship winners.
NEW president Kimberly Betts, a member of the Human Capital Practice at Deloitte & Touche, said, "Tom has been one of our most engaged and energetic champions. He has done a tremendous job of incorporating NEW's resources into the performance development system at Frito-Lay, and in getting real results. We are very grateful to Tom for his unwavering support of our mission, and the significant part he has played over the years in helping us to fulfill it."
NEW executive director Joan Toth praised Greco for "his outstanding support of the Network of Executive Women and the cause of gender diversity in the consumer packaged goods industry. We could not accomplish our mission of advancing the cause of women in our industry without the support of Champions like him."
Only six other persons have been recognized as NEW Outstanding Champion since the organization's founding in 2001. Linda Dillman, e.v.p. and c.i.o. of Wal-Mart (recently promoted to e.v.p. of risk management and benefits administration), Jeri Dunn, former s.v.p. and c.i.o. of Tyson Foods, and Kay Palmer, c.i.o. and e.v.p. of J.B. Hunt, shared the award last year.
Greco began his career with PepsiCo in Canada in 1986. Since then he has held a variety of positions in both sales and marketing. In January 2003, Greco assumed the position of s.v.p. of sales for Frito-Lay North America. He was previously employed by Procter & Gamble.
