MINNEAPOLIS -- Seeking to raise the beauty bar, Target based here has introduced a proprietary bath and body department that will feature 20 "exclusive and luxurious" brands.

Set to launch at stores nationwide in March 2006, the new bath and body department will feature an broad assortment of new and exclusive products and accessories, and will focus on 20 unique brands that take their cue from beauty rituals and ingredients that span the globe. The new department will be dedicated to offering "luxurious and efficacious collections," and feature tester units and category signage in an easy-to-shop environment.

Tapping into beauty rituals from countries like New Zealand, Scotland, England, Greece, Spain, and Portugal, new Target bath and body brands are billed as being packed with such ingredients as olives, tomatoes, honey, ginger, milk, and chamomile. The products are designed to look and feel like their department store counterparts without the department store prices.

The launch of Target's new bath and body line seeks to bolster the retailer's beauty authority, turning the department into one of the store's most exciting and unique areas.

The assortment of boutique-like beauty brands has products for men, women, and teens alike, including scrubs, bath salts, and body cremes, toothpastes, aftershave lotions, and shower gels. The new line will also feature a host of functional, fashionable bath accessories, including eye masks, makeup bags, and body care kits.

Target presently operates 1,400 stores in 47 states nationwide.
