CINCINNATI -- Citing overcrowding at its downtown headquarters here, The Kroger Co. said it will move several hundred employees to a building it has purchased in Blue Ash, Ohio.

According to a report in the Cincinnati Business Courier, the grocery chain bought the 202,000-square-foot building -- formerly owned by Procter & Gamble as its baby-care division -- on Feb. 1.

Although Kroger did not specify how many employees would be transferred to the new location, the report said the move would take place later this year.

Kroger operates more than 2,500 supermarkets and multi-department stores in 32 states.
