ALTOONA, Pa. -- Convenience retailer Sheetz, Inc. here has received a Retail Community Service Award from the fashion trade magazine, Women's Wear Daily/ExecTech.
The awards are given annually by Women's Wear Daily (WWD) to five companies across the country, to celebrate the retailers' history of involvement in, and support of, worthy causes such as enhancing education, youth outreach and caring for the sick.
Travis Sheetz, Sheetz v.p. of operations, and Colleen Devorris, director of brand development, accepted the award in New York earlier this week.
Said Stan Sheetz, president and c.e.o. of the chain, which operates 320 stores across six states, "It's nice to know our efforts are appreciated and we'll continue to try and do good work for our communities."
Microsoft, Hewlett-Packard and Intel hosted the award ceremony, which was attended by more than 200 retail executives in town for the National Retail Federation conference.
