JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Pre-holiday sales at Winn-Dixie for the four-week period from Nov. 17, 2005 to Dec. 14, 2005 were up more than 4 percent compared to the previous month, according to documents filed with the U.S. Middle District of Florida bankruptcy court on Tuesday.
The troubled chain ended its latest sales period with $613 million in net sales, compared to $587 million during the previous period covering Oct. 20 to Nov. 16.
Winn-Dixie's net loss for the latest four weeks was just under $2 million.
Last month, president and c.e.o. Peter Lynch said the chain aims to exit bankruptcy by this June. The company won a third 90-day extension for coming up with its reorganization plan, giving it until March 20 to file the plan and until May 22 to secure approvals of the plan.
