PITTSBURGH -- As part of a successful annual "Goods for Guns" buyback program this past Saturday, police here received 231 guns citywide in exchange for gift certificates to Shop N' Save grocery stores, with no questions asked, according to published reports.
The program offered $50 gift certificates for every operable handgun and $25 gift certificates for every operable shotgun.
At just one police station, over 70 guns were handed in.
"Good for Guns" has removed an estimated 10,000-plus guns from the streets in the 12 years it has been in existence.
