    Stater Bros. to Open Two New Stores

    COLTON, Calif. -- Stater Bros. Markets here is planning to open two new state-of-the-art supermarkets -- one Dec. 7 in Apple Valley, Calif. and the other in the High Desert community of Adelanto, Calif. next month.

    COLTON, Calif. -- Stater Bros. Markets here is planning to open two new state-of-the-art supermarkets -- one Dec. 7 in Apple Valley, Calif. and the other in the High Desert community of Adelanto, Calif. next month.

    The first location to open is Stater Bros.' 162nd store, and its second supermarket in Apple Valley, Calif. The High Desert store will be the retailer's eighth in the market. "Stater Bros. is especially proud to open this new and modern 'Blue Ribbon' supermarket to better serve our Apple Valley customers," said Jack H. Brown, chairman and c.e.o. of Stater Bros. "We have been serving Apple Valley for over 17 years and are very happy to now have two supermarkets to serve growing families in and around [the area]."

    At 44,000 square feet, Stater Bros.' new Apple Valley supermarket features:

    --Full-service meat and seafood departments

    --A hot service deli offering a selection of salads, premium deli meats, a variety of domestic and imported cheeses, sandwiches to go, including the new "Sandwich Classics" brand that uses La Brea rolls, party trays, quick and easy hot lunches and dinners, and Golden Fried Chicken

    --A full-service bakery offering daily fresh-baked artisan breads, cookies, rolls, elegant desserts, and custom-made cakes, including picture cakes

    --An expanded "Garden Fresh" produce department with more than 800 items

    --A floral department offering fresh-cut flower bouquets, silk arrangements, potted plants, and balloons

    --A Stater Bros. Super Rx Pharmacy

    --A full-service branch of Arrowhead Credit Union

    --Energy-efficient skylights to incorporate the use of daylighting and help the environment

    In celebration of the grand opening, Stater Bros. will make donations to the Newton T. Bass Apple Valley Branch Library for the Children's Book Program, the Apple Valley Police Department for the Police Activities League, the Victor Valley Museum and Art Gallery, and the Apple Valley High School Marching Sundevils, who will also perform at the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
