SHEBOYGAN, Wis. -- Piggly Wiggly and Fresh Brands here have pledged 1million pounds of food donations to the Hunger Task Force through a new yearlong "Stomp Out Hunger" campaign.
All Piggly Wiggly stores in Wisconsin are participating in the campaign, in which customers, storeowners, and vendors donate food and money. Donations will stay in the communities where they're raised.
Consumers can participate in the campaign by purchasing nonperishables and placing them in Stomp Out Hunger barrels in Piggly Wiggly stores, by purchasing a prefilled bag of nonperishables for $4.99 or $9.99, or by cash donation.
The Hunger Task Force supports local emergency relief efforts and promotes policies to achieve food security.
Fresh Brands, Inc. is a supermarket retailer and grocery wholesaler. It supplies 75 franchised and 11 corporate-owned Piggly Wiggly supermarkets throughout Wisconsin, northern Illinois, and Iowa.
