    Marsh's Former Research Director Joins Sorensen Associates

    Portland, Ore. -- Mark Heckman, an expert on retail research and trends, has been named to the newly created position of v.p., retail insights at Sorensen Associates, an in-store market research firm serving major retailers and CPG companies.

    Portland, Ore. -- Mark Heckman, an expert on retail research and trends, has been named to the newly created position of v.p., retail insights at Sorensen Associates, an in-store market research firm serving major retailers and CPG companies.

    Heckman's 25-year history in the supermarket industry includes director of research at Marsh Supermarkets, where he directed the "Marsh Super Study," the first comprehensive category management and consumer tracking study to better understand shopping dynamics.

    He was also v.p. of marketing at Randall Foods and v.p. of marketing for Valassis Relationship Marketing Systems, LLC, where he brought retailer and brand strategies together to build cooperative programs. Heckman most recently served as president of Strategic Retail Solutions, Inc., a retail consulting firm with retailer and CPG clients.

    Sorensen Associates is an in-store market research firm that helps Fortune 500 retailers and CPG manufacturers understand how people shop and buy products. The firm, with 54 employees, has offices in Oregon, Pa. and Minnesota. The firm conducts consumer research for product development, packaging, and retail strategies for clients like Kraft, Procter & Gamble, Coke, and Food Lion.
