SALT LAKE CITY -- Independent retailer-owned wholesaler Associated Food Stores received the first Utah's Own award in recognition of the service it has rendered to the Utah food and agriculture industry.
Utah's Own is a Utah Food Council-sponsored program that gives Utah companies an opportunity to be identified by local consumers. The group aims to create a culture in which Utah citizens will make purchasing Utah products their first choice. The award was accepted by Steve Reich, community marketing director, Associated Food Stores, at the third-annual Utah's Own Business to Business conference in Sandy, Utah.
"Associated Food Stores has provided invaluable assistance in the creation and promotion of the Utah's Own program," said Richard Sparks, deputy director, Utah Department of Agriculture and Food. "That assistance included the graphic design of the Utah's Own logo; donation of caps, aprons, tractors; and speakers at local conferences. Steve Reich of Associated Food Stores has provided a steady stream of marketing insights and experience to the Utah Food Council, without which the Utah's Own program and other projects of the Utah Food Council would not have been feasible."
