SAN ANTONIO, Texas --As fall approaches, ushering in a major selling season for supermarkets, The Gambrinus Company here is kicking off "Touchdown Tiki 2005" to support Corona Extra and Corona Light, which it claims are the number one and number three import beers respectively. The promotion will run Aug. 15 -- Oct. 31.
Capitalizing on its traditional football success, Corona has created a league of its own -- the Beach Football League (BFL). Corona invites retailers to join the BFL and benefit from its spike in sales during football season.
"Touchdown Tiki 2005" will be supported on-premise with BFL events and party-starting materials, including pennants, banners, paper tackers, coasters, and table tents. In-store elements also will include case cards, counter cards, base wraps and header cards, as well as cross-promotional opportunities with three different food partners: Chi Chi's Salsa, Stagg Chili, and Magic Seasonings.
To support the promotion, national TV spots, including Fox Sports Net and ESPN programming, promotion specific radio will break in more than 30 Gambrinus markets throughout August. Additionally, Corona's "Football Island" outdoor creative will be posted in select markets and available for co-op opportunities.
The Gambrinus Company imports Modelo's Corona Extra, Corona Light, Coronita Extra, Modelo Especial, Negra Modelo, and Pacifico Clara beers to 25 eastern states, the District of Columbia and the Caribbean.
