NEW YORK -- Gourmet Garage, based here, said Friday that it would be providing home-style meals for AMC's new series "Celebrity Charades," which premieres today at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT and runs for five consecutive nights.
Executive-produced by actor/director Bob Balaban, and married actors Chad Lowe and Hilary Swank, the show features celebrities miming movie titles for various charitable causes. During each half-hour program, participants socialize between rounds of charades, followed by a dinner segment with food supplied by Gourmet Garage.
Guests will include Bebe Neuwirth, Hank Azaria, Lorraine Bracco, Billy Baldwin, Julianna Margulies, Peter Bogdanovich, and fashion designer Isaac Mizrahi.
Additionally, Gourmet Garage c.e.o. Andy Arons and executive chef Tony Balderose will appear on the show, preparing and serving selections from the company's new menu for the season, which is currently available in the retailer's stores in the form of heat-and-eat meals, as well as in its catering department.
"It is really an honor to have been asked to showcase our foods on 'Celebrity Charades,'" said Arons in a statement. "We had great fun, the show is hilariously funny and high-energy, and it is all for a good cause."
Among the dishes on the grocer's new menu are filet mignon crostini with wasabi zest, truffle mashed potatoes, sliced fennel salad with shaved parmesan, sesame-crusted range chicken tenders with sweet and spicy dipping sauce, roasted baby carrots with preserved lemon, mini-potato latkes with smoked salmon, sour cream and caviar; herb-crusted American lamb chops with rosemary olive oil drizzle, and assorted tarts and tiramisu. Since opening its first retail outlet in 1992, Gourmet Garage, which began as a wholesale distribution company for restaurants, has offered offering a vast selection of specialty, natural, organic, and traditional foods at its five Manhattan locations. The store also has an extensive catering menu and prepared foods, created under the supervision of Balderose.
