SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. -- A dedication ceremony to commemorate a 40-foot flagpole donated by Colton, Calif.-based Stater Bros. to California State University's campus will take place this morning in the courtyard outside Jack H. Brown Hall at the site of the new flagpole.

An Air Force ROTC Honor Guard from CSU/San Bernardino will raise the flag during the ceremony in the presence of such distinguished guests as Stater Bros. chairman and c.e.o. Jack H. In a statement Brown said: "Stater Bros. is proud to provide this beautiful flagpole and American flag, which will be enjoyed by all current and future faculty, students, and visitors to California State University, San Bernardino as well as to Jack H. Brown Hall. We proudly display an American flag at all Stater Bros. Supermarket locations as well as at our corporate offices and distribution center. Every corporate meeting and new store dedication at Stater Bros. always starts with the Pledge of Allegiance and a prayer for our Armed Forces on duty at home and around the world."

Founded in 1936 in Yucaipa, Calif., Stater Bros. has grown steadily through the years to become the largest privately owned supermarket chain in California, with annual sales in 2004 of $3.7 billion.
