WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- The Lowes Foods in Kernersville, N.C. is teaming up with Curly's Harley Davidson and the Chariots of Light Christian Biker Club on June 25, for the second annual "Thunder for Hunger" event to raise food and money to support the Care and Share Food Bank of Forsyth County.
During the event, a variety of activities will take place at the Lowes Foods unit, including a motorcycle show, a vintage car show, pony rides, and a petting zoo. Other food companies that will be taking part in the event are Coke, Chick-fil-a, DND's Hawaiian Ice, George Weston Bakeries, and Deer Park water.
"Our goal is to serve our community to the best of our ability, and our desire is to provide community support to help feed and shelter those in need," said Lowes Foods manager Ronnie Huie in a statement. "We are grateful to participate with Curly's Harley Davidson and the Chariots of Light, a Christian motorcycle group devoted to feed the hungry in our local communities."
At 11 a.m., a "Thunder for Hunger" charity ride will start at Curly's Harley Davidson. The ride will end at the Lowes Foods at noon.
Lowes Foods units in Walkertown, University Parkway, Silas Creek, Lewisville, Clemmons, and Advance will also join the Kernersville store in a food drive, starting on June 1 and running thru June 25, for the Care and Share Food Bank.
Founded in 1954, Lowes Foods operates 109 stores in North and South Carolina and Virginia.
