Reading, Pa. -- Redner's Markets, Inc. presented the Berks County Chapter of the American Red Cross with a donation of $29,543 raised through an in-store program conducted earlier this year.
The culmination of an intense fundraising program in all of its warehouse stores and Quick Shoppes in Eastern Pennsylvania and New York, the funds will be donated to benefit the relief efforts being conducted in areas ravaged by the tsunami of 2004.
Following the tragic events of the tsunamis that struck countries located in the Indian Ocean, Redner's called upon customers and employee owners to help raise funds to benefit relief efforts in these areas. Throughout January and February, Redner's began to collect cash donations and sell American Red Cross paper wall hangers for $1.00 in all stores as a way to generate support for this cause.
Redner’s currently operates 37 namesake warehouse supermarkets and 11 Quick Shoppes throughout Eastern Pennsylvania and New York.
