ATLANTA -- West Coast retailer Smart & Final has successfully implemented the G.O.L.D. suite of retail merchandising solutions from Aldata Solution, Inc., a global provider of integrated merchandise management and supply chain solutions here. The implementation includes Aldata's headquarters operations, warehouse management, and replenishment optimization solutions.
The "go-live" at Smart & Final (at its headquarters and at one of its warehouses) is the first phase of a comprehensive supply chain initiative for the retailer, and should enable it to efficiently manage the more than 40,000 food and foodservice items that flow through its distribution network on a daily basis, according to Aldata. The implementation includes: Aldata G.O.L.D. Central for the management of headquarters functions, Aldata G.O.L.D. Stock for warehouse management, and Aldata G.O.L.D. Topase for warehouse replenishment optimization.
"Aldata's G.O.L.D. suite replaces aging systems at Smart & Final that did not support our diversification and growth, and the Topase optimization has provided us with an initial 18 percent reduction in stock we needed to carry in the warehouse," said Zeke Duge, s.v.p. and c.i.o. of Smart & Final, in a statement.
Neil Thall, c.e.o. of Aldata Solution, Inc., noted that the successful implementation at Smart & Final mirrors results the company has been providing to European retailers for years. "Aldata's solutions are uniquely positioned to provide grocery retailers the edge they need to manage their complex, fast-paced environments. We feel confident that Smart & Final will achieve a rapid return on investment and we look forward to working closely with them as our US expansion continues to gain momentum," Thall said.
Aldata said that Smart & Final plans to roll out its product suite at additional locations later this summer.
Founded in 1871 in downtown Los Angeles, Smart & Final Inc. currently operates 230 non-membership warehouse stores for food and foodservice supplies in California, Oregon, Washington, Arizona, Nevada, Idaho, and northern Mexico.
