CHARLESTON, S.C. -- Regional grocer Piggly Wiggly Carolina Co., with more than 110 company-owned and franchised stores in Georgia and South Carolina, plans to run price and promotion software applications chain-wide to better compete and profitably grow its business.
Piggly Wiggly will run price and promotion applications for Consumer Demand Management, from San Carlos, Calif.-based DemandTec. The software will be deployed via IBM's On Demand platform.
"In order to continue to profitably grow, we need to be more strategic about how we price and promote across the business," said John Owens, director of merchandising, Piggly Wiggly. "One of the benefits we are most excited about is how DemandTec will enable us to predictably balance our competitive position with our overall financial performance."
