COLTON, Calif. - Stater Bros. Markets said yesterday that it would open a full-service supermarket at Oak Valley Towne Center in Beaumont, Calif. on Wednesday, Nov. 17.
Stater Bros. has been serving Beaumont since 1979 and currently already operates a supermarket in the community. The new 42,536-square-foot supermarket includes the following features:
-A meat department with famous Stater Bros. butchers to serve customers and provide preparation tips;
-A fresh seafood department;
-A hot service deli offering a complete selection of salads; premium deli meats; a wide variety of domestic and imported cheeses; sandwiches to go, including the new "Sandwich Classics" using La Brea fine rolls; party trays; quick and easy hot lunches and dinners; and Stater Bros.' famous Golden Fried Chicken;
-A hot bakery offering daily fresh-baked artisan breads, cookies, rolls, elegant desserts, and custom-made cakes for all occasions, among them picture cakes;
-An expanded "Garden Fresh" produce department offering more than 500
-A floral department offering fresh-cut flower bouquets, silk arrangements, potted plants, and balloons;
-A Super Rx Pharmacy;
-Krispy Kreme doughnuts delivered fresh every day;
-The addition of energy-efficient skylights to incorporate the use of daylight and help the environment
The opening of the new Beaumont unit brings the number of Stater Bros.'s full-service supermarket locations to 159: Forty-seven in San Bernardino County, 43 in Riverside County, 30 in Orange County, 27 in Los Angeles County, 10 in Northern San Diego County, and two in Kern County. There are more than 16,000 Stater Bros. employees.
Stater Bros. has also revealed plans to build full-service supermarkets in the Southern California communities of Wildomar (scheduled to open in January 2005), Fontana (scheduled to open in March 2005), and Adelanto (scheduled to open in June 2005). Stater Bros. v.p. corporate affairs Susan Atkinson told Progressive Grocer that a second store was also scheduled to open in Fontana, but no date had been set yet.
