    Stater Bros. Breaks Ground for New Fontana, Calif. Site

    COLTON, Calif. - As part of its "We Believe in America" new-store expansion program, Stater Bros. Markets will break ground at the site of what will be its newest and most modern full-service supermarket on Tues., Oct. 26.

    COLTON, Calif. - As part of its "We Believe in America" new-store expansion program, Stater Bros. Markets will break ground at the site of what will be its newest and most modern full-service supermarket on Tues., Oct. 26.

    The store will be located east of Interstate 15 on Summit Ave. (adjacent to the I-15 Freeway) in Fontana and will be part of the 31-acre Falcon Ridge Town Center. A grand opening celebration for the new store is scheduled for March 2005.

    Stater Bros. has been serving the Fontana community for 65 years, and currently operates three supermarkets there. The chain is also building new supermarkets in the Southern California communities of Beaumont (scheduled to open Nov. 17), Wildomar (scheduled to open in January 2005), and Adelanto (scheduled to open in June 2005).

    The new 44,000 square-foot Falcon Ridge store, which will be constructed by Stater Bros. Development, will feature full-service meat and seafood departments; a full-service hot service deli offering a complete selection of salads, premium deli meats, a wide variety of domestic and imported cheeses, sandwiches to go -- including the new "Sandwich Classics" using La Brea fine rolls -- party trays, quick and easy hot lunches and dinners, and fried chicken; a full-service bakery featuring daily fresh-baked artisan breads, cookies, rolls, elegant desserts, and custom-made cakes for all
    occasions; an expanded produce department featuring more than
    500 items; a floral department offering fresh-cut flower bouquets, silk
    arrangements, potted plants, and balloons; a full-service pharmacy and bank; Krispy Kreme doughnuts; and the addition of energy-efficient and environmentally friendly skylights to incorporate the use of day lighting.

    Jack H. Brown, chairman and c.e.o. of Stater Bros., said the company "is especially proud to be able to build its fourth Stater Bros. supermarket to serve the growing community of Fontana. We pledge to continue to work hard every day to earn the privilege of serving our valued customers."

    Stater Bros. currently operates 158 locations, with 47 in San Bernardino County, 42 in Riverside County, 30 in Orange County, 27 in Los Angeles County, 10 in Northern San Diego County, and two in Kern County.
