DANBURY, Ct. - Bristol Technology is once again working with Progressive Grocer as sponsor of the 2004 Category Captains awards program. The program honors CPG companies whose innovation, commitment, and leadership in category management raise the bar for all supermarket industry suppliers.
"Without a doubt, there is a direct link between leadership in category management and increased sales and profits, making it a high priority for both retailers and manufacturers," said John Boccuzzi Jr., director of business development at Bristol. This is the fourth consecutive year that Bristol Technology and Progressive Grocer have joined forces for the program. The awards not only recognize category leaders, but generate increased industry awareness for the various product categories and manufacturers. In addition, this year, Information Resources, Inc., a leading global provider of market content, analytic services and Business Performance Management (BPM) solutions to the CPG, retail and healthcare industries, has committed to providing key industry data and insights for each of the top line categories in the form of DataAlchemy reports. The report will be available, for free, on the Progressive Grocer KnowledgeShare website.
"Last year, we awarded the leaders driving growth in 22 categories, and devoted an entire issue to all aspects of category management, detailing the winners' best practices," said Judith Princz, publisher of Progressive Grocer. "This year, we've developed innovative online research using DataAlchemy and KnowledgeShare to discover the latest industry thinking on category management."
The results will be published in the November 15th issue of Progressive Grocer, together with the "Best of Class" award winners for 2004.
