VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Farm Fresh Supermarkets, based here, has become the first Mid-Atlantic supermarket chain to add Healthnotes EasyAnswers Touchscreen in-store kiosks. The 35-store Supervalu subsidiary has installed 15 kiosks in 11 of its stores, four of which are using the Healthnotes kiosks in multiple departments.
Based on the location in-store, the EasyAnswers Touchscreen kiosks will run the corresponding department-specific application from Healthnotes. Five kiosks are running Foodnotes meat & seafood, two are running Foodnotes fresh produce, four are running Healthnotes pharmacy, and four are running Healthnotes healthy living. All four applications include consistent information but are tailored for the specific department, offering shoppers an interactive, up-to-date resource on health, food, nutrition, and lifestyle storewide.
Farm Fresh president and c.o.o. Ron Dennis said the chain "is committed to being a great place to shop, and helping our shoppers make healthy, informed lifestyle choices is an integral part of that commitment. We are excited to offer Healthnotes as a reliable, self-service resource on healthy living in multiple departments."
Numerous studies show consumers are using a wide variety of products to maintain their health, including foods, vitamins, and herbal remedies, according to Schuyler Lininger, Healthnotes' president and c.e.o. "By offering Healthnotes in-store, Farm Fresh is providing the information their shoppers want and need to make confident, healthy purchase decisions," he noted.
Healthnotes kiosk applications, which include easy-to-understand information on health concerns, vitamins, herbs, weight control, sports and fitness, healthy eating, and foods, also offer vital safety information on the potential interactions between supplements and frequently used prescription and over-the-counter drugs. Shoppers can access hundreds of tasty, healthy recipes where they need them most -- at the supermarket -- and are also encouraged to print the articles and recipes free of charge.
In addition to providing consumers with healthy-living information, Healthnotes applications also track customer use and provide Farm Fresh with real-time, actionable data on their customers' top health concerns and product interests. Farm Fresh can use this information to better serve its customers through additional variety and informational resources, according to Portland, Ore.-based Healthnotes.
