    Harps Food Stores Wins Communications Award

    SPRINGDALE, Ark. - Harps Food Stores, Inc., based here, has been named the national winner in the ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan) Association's Annual Awards for Communications Excellence. Harps won in the category of Total Communications, 1001-5000 employees.

    SPRINGDALE, Ark. - Harps Food Stores, Inc., based here, has been named the national winner in the ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan) Association's Annual Awards for Communications Excellence. Harps won in the category of Total Communications, 1001-5000 employees.

    Roger Collins, Harps president and c.e.o., said, "We are very pleased to receive national recognition for our efforts to promote employee ownership. Having our employees share in the successes of the company as owners is a wonderful motivation, not only for them personally, but also to promote outstanding customer service."

    The winning entry was composed of the various methods used to communicate about and promote employee ownership to employees as well as customers. These communications efforts included monthly employee newsletters, a video shown to all new employees, promotion of employee ownership on signs, T-shirts, buttons, print advertising, grocery bags, and billboards, and as one-on-one meetings with the majority of the employee owners.
