CHICAGO - IGA yesterday announced that Patrick Sylvester has been named editor-at-large of the IGA Grocergram and director of marketing events. The organization also announced it has retained Jerry Pinney, president of Chicago-based consulting firm Jerry Pinney & Associates, for the position of international coordinator.
Sylvester replaces IGA Grocergram editor-at-large and advertising director Bill Hayes, who retired in mid-March. Sylvester began his grocery industry career as a front end manager for Dominick's Finer Foods in River Grove, Ill. Over the next several years he held positions as vice president of marketing for IGA and national account manager for Kwikee Systems.

As international coordinator, Pinney will work to expand IGA's global presence, while offering support to the office of the chairman and IGA's international programs.
Jerry Pinney & Associates provides consulting and coaching services to a wide variety of clients, including Intrinsic Quality in Rolling Meadows, Ill. and Spokane, Wash.-based Second Harvest Food Bank. Before founding his own company, Pinney had a 30-year career in the food industry, including positions with IGA, Inc., the National Grocers Association, and Shurfine International. Most recently Pinney was responsible for managing automotive giant Zenon C.R. Hansen's family foundation, a nonprofit organization "dedicated to providing resources to those who help themselves."
