COLTON, Calif. - Stater Bros. is reportedly considering moving to a larger distribution facility, according to a report in the San Bernardino Business Press.
Jack Brown, Stater Bros. chairman, president, and c.e.o., said last week that the company might leave its 160-acre facility in Colton, according to the report, which noted that no site has been selected and no timeline determined.
Brown affirmed that the company would not move far from its current site. "I've said before that we aren't going to move more than 30 minutes from Colton in any direction," Brown was quoted as saying, noting that he didn't want the chain's current work force to have to relocate and uproot their families.
Stater Bros. operates nine distribution centers, including the 1.6-million-square-foot distribution center at its Colton headquarters, which it has occupied since 1961.
