MADISON, Wis. -- Kitchens across America will be filled with the delectable scent of homemade pizza on Friday nights this fall as a result of a major joint promotion between Wisconsin cheese, Fleischmann's Yeast, Jimmy Dean sausage, and Pillsbury flour.
Headed up by the Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board here, the promotion kicks off in October with the distribution of 25,000 specially flagged Fleischmann's Yeast display shippers. The shippers are designed to encourage consumer interest and excitement in homemade pizza, and generate retailer sales in multiple grocery departments.
The "Friday Night is Pizza Night" promotion heats up with extensive advertising efforts scheduled to begin Nov. 9, featuring a full-page FSI in newspapers nationwide, along with a full-page ad in "American Profile" magazine on the same day. Both ads will include pizza recipes made with Wisconsin cheese, coupon savings, and a consumer mail-in offer for a professional-grade Wisconsin Cheese pizza cutter with proof of purchase of Wisconsin cheese. Consumers can also look for special "Pizza Night" savings on 6 million bags of Pillsbury flour, featuring the Wisconsin Cheese pizza cutter offer and coupons for Jimmy Dean and Fleischmann products.
Noted chef Jim Coleman will also prepare three pizzas topped with Wisconsin cheese on his "Flavors of America" PBS cooking show.
