CERRITOS, Calif. -- Pittsburgh market leader Giant Eagle has contracted with Connect3 Systems, Inc., to implement Velocity Promotion Manager to integrate its merchandising and advertising production systems.
The Pittsburgh-based supermarket retailer, with 214 stores in four states, will use the Connect3 Velocity system to streamline and improve overall promotional processes.
Velocity Promotion Manager brings together all the elements of the promotion process into one common, user-friendly interface to increase promotional effectiveness and accuracy. The easy-to-use graphical approach for merchandising and advertising departments, along with the streamlined Connect3 workflow, allows users to quickly and accurately plan and produce targeted promotions, including weekly circulars and other promotional tools.
According to Giant Eagle v.p. of marketing Kevin Srigley: "A key part of our overall strategy is to be locally and regionally competitive with our item selection and promotional pricing. Connect3's capabilities allow our merchants to efficiently and effectively price and promote the best product mix in multiple markets while also improving our advertising and circular production processes."
Giant Eagle will use the Velocity system to produce its weekly circulars, plan upcoming promotions, and allocate ad space to categories. Merchants will then perform their promotional item analysis and digital asset selection and place the items in predefined ad templates.
The templates are targeted to local markets and then versioned by product and price, based on marketing analysis and the merchandisers' understanding of their customers. The versioned templates are then passed to advertising, which uses Connect3 to review and adjust digital assets, flow in ad copy, adjust item placement, and then pass the digitized promotional event to its QuarkXPress-based production processes.
