DANBURY, Conn. - Bristol Technology Inc. has announced it is again partnering with Progressive Grocer magazine to sponsor the 2003 Category Captains awards program. Recognizing industry leaders in category management, the awards program honors those companies whose innovation and commitment to this critical business practice sets the pace for other suppliers of the supermarket industry.
This year's award winners will be featured in the Nov. 15 issue of Progressive Grocer. Entry forms will be available in early August.
The 2003 program marks the fourth year that Bristol, through its former subsidiary Kenosia Corporation, has sponsored the award.
"We have seen dramatic strides in technological prowess, category experience, creativity and objectivity among the standard bearers since our first sponsorship in 2000," said Kevin Blackwell, general manager of sales & marketing analytics at Bristol. "Continual globalization, focus on profitability, and expansion of category management well beyond the food industry signals even greater innovations to come. We are proud to contribute our knowledge of this area and support an award program that publicizes best practices in sales analytics to the industry."
Judith Princz, publisher of Progressive Grocer, said, "Retailers and manufacturers alike recognize the crucial role of category management not only in increasing sales but in lifting profits. Best practices in this area continue to be a vital concern, and our Category Captains program is designed to capture the best of the best-not only what's going on today, but what the industry needs to know about category management tomorrow. We're delighted to continue in our successful partnership with Bristol."
