CHICAGO -- Sara Lee Corp. said this week it will replace its 58 regional fresh bread brands later this year with its national brands, which are Sara Lee, Earthgrains, and IronKids.
The move is part of an effort to reduce costs. The 58 bread lines represent less than 1 percent of Sara Lee Bakery Group sales. Sara Lee brand fresh bread, launched in October 2002, is on track for $100 million in annual sales. Next week the company will launch a line of Sara Lee hot dog and hamburger buns.
