CHICAGO & QUINCY, Mass. - Leading Internet grocer Peapod Inc. and New England grocer Stop & Shop today announced the expansion of their online service to the Hartford, Conn., metropolitan area.
Residents of more than 100 Hartford area ZIP codes can visit www.stopandshop.com beginning April 14 to shop for fresh fruits and vegetables, seafood, meat, dairy as well as the best selling national brand and Stop & Shop private label items. Deliveries begin on April 28. Stop & Shop cardholders can shop online from a list of items they have bought at their local Stop & Shop simply by entering their card number online. Groceries can be delivered as soon as the next day after the order is placed.
Peapod by Stop & Shop began serving the Boston metropolitan area in 1996 and now delivers to customers in over 200 ZIP codes in the area. In addition, Peapod by Stop & Shop provides service to customers in Worcester, Mass., Providence, R.I., Upper Cape Cod, Mass., Fairfield County, Conn., Westchester County, N.Y., and Long Island, N.Y.
Both Stop & Shop and Peapod are wholly owned subsidiaries of Netherlands-based Royal Ahold.
