CHICAGO -- Merisant, the marker of Equal Sweetener, celebrated the production of its 30 billionth packet of the sweetener this week.
Merisant acquired Equal from Monsanto in March 2000 and has worked to turn around the brand. In January it began a campaign featuring restaurateur B. Smith, and had a joint promotion with Blockbuster. This month a print campaign with B. Smith began appearing in national magazines.
