TORONTO, Ontario - Triversity Inc. recently announced that Unified Western Grocers has selected FraudWatch as its loss prevention solution. Unified, the largest retailer-owned wholesale grocery distributor in the western United States, will offer FraudWatch to its member base of independent grocers in California and the Pacific Northwest.
FraudWatch is designed to fight the growing problem of inventory shrinkage in grocery retailing, where grocers typically lose 1.8 percent of sales to shrinkage.
In a pilot project at nine stores, FraudWatch automatically generated reports and e-mailed them to Unified's Loss Prevention specialists. "This eliminated having to review thousands of lines of information and allowed us to zero in on exceptions," said Dan Murphy, VP of retail services for Unified Western Grocers. "With the specialized data mining capabilities of FraudWatch, we were not only able to identify the sources of POS-related shrinkage due to employee theft, but we were also able to key in on associates who were not complying with policies and procedures."
