    VONS.com Expands in Las Vegas

    ARCADIA, Calif. - Vons, a division of Safeway Inc., has expanded in Las Vegas by adding 15 more ZIP codes to the territory covered by its online grocery order and delivery service.

    ARCADIA, Calif. - Vons, a division of Safeway Inc., has expanded in Las Vegas by adding 15 more ZIP codes to the territory covered by its online grocery order and delivery service.

    VONS.com now delivers to homes in 35 ZIP Code areas in the cities of Las Vegas, Henderson and North Las Vegas. Customers can go online and find the same selection of products and prices that they would inside a local Vons store. Customers ordering before 10 a.m. can get same-day delivery. Deliveries are made during a two-hour period chosen by the customer.

    "We're pleased to expand our service by 75 percent in the Las Vegas market," said Mitchell Rhodes, president of VONS.com. "We continue to receive a positive response from customers, who enjoy the convenience of online shopping and the superior service we deliver. Customers tell us they like the way our personal shoppers select quality cuts of meat and pick the freshest produce available."

    VONS.com offers its service in Las Vegas for $4.95 for orders totaling $150 and higher, or $9.95 for orders under $150. There is no minimum order size.

    VONS.com is operated by GroceryWorks, Safeway Inc.'s exclusive provider for online grocery shopping and home delivery. The company operates Safeway.com in the San Francisco Bay Area, Sacramento, Portland, Ore., and Vancouver, Wash., and VONS.com in Southern California and Las Vegas. In total, the two online services combined deliver to 773 ZIP code areas and 340 cities in the western United States. GroceryWorks is 50 percent owned by Safeway Inc. and 35 percent owned by Tesco PLC, the number one food retailer in the United Kingdom.
