KULPSVILLE, Pa. - Regional chain Clemens Family Markets has became the latest retailer to announce it will sell irradiated fresh ground beef. The Kulpsville, Pa.-based supermarket company has begun offering case-ready fresh ground beef processed with SureBeam Corporation's electron beam technology at all its stores in Pennsylvania.

"Clemens is proud to be able to offer our customers a choice of purchasing SureBeam processed fresh ground beef," said Jack Clemens, Clemens Family Markets chairman, president and CEO. "The importance of food safety is too great not to offer a high quality product alternative."

Clemens is selling SureBeam processed fresh ground beef in one-pound case-ready packages in 85-percent, 90-percent and 93-percent lean. Their case-ready packages provide the customer a complete view of the product through a clear cellophane covering.

Clemens Family Markets serves several counties throughout Pennsylvania with 19 full-service supermarkets. In addition, the company operates foodsource by Clemens, a specialty food store, and Clemens Kitchen, where Clemens originates home-style foods and pastries prepared fresh daily.
